The Gospel
I don’t want anyone that comes to this blog to leave without having the chance to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ.
In Matthew 16:15, Jesus asked the disciples “Who do you say that I am?”.
And that is a question for all of us to answer.
Who do we say that Jesus is?
Was He a prophet, a good teacher, just a man that is no longer living?
Or is He the Son of God still alive still working in our lives today?
Or maybe you believe He never existed.
I don’t know but I think every one must decide one way or another and decide wisely because it’s too important of a question to take lightly.
This is an eternal life kind of question. All those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord will receive eternal life (John 6:40; John 5:24; John 3:16).
I thought about trying to find a nicer way to say it. To try and find a way to sugar coat it. Make it more palatable to today’s culture.
To make it more politically correct but that does no one any good.
I’ve never been good at that anyway and the truth is Jesus doesn’t really give us a politically correct option.
He’s not really one for gray areas.
So how can I in good conscience, give you a sugar-coated option? I won’t. Jesus said in John 14:6 “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
I’ll admit that in my college years, I had trouble with verses like this or really the Bible and Christianity in general. I was big into the whole “All Christians are hypocrites” rhetoric.
What I know now is that I was right. All Christians are hypocrites…I just didn’t know that I too was in that group.
I also wrestled with whether or not God was real, if Jesus was the Son of God, if Christianity was the only way to God (if He did exist).
It just seemed so narrow-minded to think that out of all of the religions and beliefs in the world, only one is true. Really? It just didn’t make sense to me and I was not cool with it.
However, you may have guessed, judging by my blog here, that I’ve made a turn around since college.
I read a lot of books about apologetics or books that give evidence of the Christian faith and they really helped open my eyes.
That’s why I love talking about apologetics.
Not because I’m an expert but because the evidence of Christianity really have helped grow my faith in God and know for sure that He does exist. Therefore, it is a huge part of my life.
Here are some of the books that I read that have helped me grow closer to God:
Jesus Among Other Gods
The End of Reason
The Case for Christ
More Than A Carpenter
As I began to read these and other books, I slowly started realizing that Christianity was real. Jesus really was the Son of God.
I wish I could tell you that I fell on my knees and asked for forgiveness for doubting Him but I didn’t. I’m super stubborn at times.
I just praise God that He has been so patient with me…forgiving me over and over and giving me so many chances.
Now I’ve been given a chance to use my platform to tell others the gospel of Jesus Christ. A message of hope and peace and joy.
