What Is A Blog?

I could make assumptions that if you want to know how to make money with a blog that you know what a blog is but I don’t want to assume that.

So let’s define what a blog is.

Blog

Blog /bläɡ/ a regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style.

Put another way, a blog is a part of a website that is updated on a regular basis and is usually about a certain theme.

For instance, Christian Blogging Academy is a blog that creates informational and tutorial-style articles called blog posts about blogging from a Christian point of view.

How Beginner Christian Bloggers Can Make Money

1) Ads

In my blog post about how Christian bloggers can make money on day one I talked about using ads on your blog to earn money.

Why?

Because it is by far the easiest way to earn money as a beginner blogger.

You’ve probably seen them on many of the blogs that you frequent.

Ads might be at the top of a webpage, sandwiched between paragraphs in a blog post in or in a sidebar.

You can either join something called an ad network or you can sell advertising space directly to a company that you have made an agreement with.

For beginner bloggers, the easiest option is to apply for an ad network.

An ad network is just a company who acts as a middle man between you and the companies wanting to place ads on a website.

Remember how I mentioned earlier that you could sell ad space to a company directly?

Well, if you did that, you would have to do the negotiations with the company, come up with a fair price, decide how long you want to allow that company to advertise on your blog, etc.

With an ad network, you don’t have to do all of that which is nice.

However, you don’t have as much control over the kinds of advertisements that are placed on your site so that is a con of using an ad network.

Another con of ad networks is that some of them have requirements meaning that your blog has to pass certain standards to be approved for the network.

However, there is one ad network that has relatively low requirements and that would be Adsense.

I’m not saying that every blogger would get approved for AdSense but generally, it isn’t very hard.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering Adsense is an ad network owned by Google.

Now here is the other caveat with Adsense.

Because the bar is set so low you typically don’t make a lot of money from Adsense.

But it’s a good way to get your feet wet and motivate you to keep going. Click the link below to sign up for Adsense

Once you are approved, you have to add the Adsense ads to your blog.

2) Promote Products You Love With Affiliate Marketing

The second easiest way to earn money as a Christian blogger is through affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing is when you get a commission for promoting a product or service that was created by another company.

The reason why you would promote the products of another company is because they have created a product that you really believe in and you know it would help your audience, as well.

For example, I promote HostGator as a web post because it is a company I have used for over 10 years.

I’ve gotten great service from them and I know that it would also help my audience who is trying to start a blog.

So how do you find companies or products that you could promote in order to earn an affiliate commission?

There are several ways you can find affiliate products.

One way is by using affiliate networks.

An affiliate network is a company that hosts a lot of different affiliates under one umbrella so to speak.

One of my favorite affiliate networks is skimlinks.com.

With Skimlinks you apply for approval to the network.

On this particular affiliate network once you are approved on that network you get access to every single company in every product in that company those companies make.

And they have so many amazing companies and products that you can share with your readers.

It would not be difficult at all to find products that you believe in and can share with your readers.

However on an affiliate network such as Shareasale which I also highly recommend just registering for Shareasale does not mean you get access to every company in that network.

Once you apply for Shareasale and get approved you then have to apply for each company in that network individually.

Then once you’re approved for that specific company in the network you can start promoting their products.

But the benefit is that all of the companies that you were approved for can be accessed from one website so you only need to login once to manage all of the affiliates that you promote.

How To Sign Up For The Affiliate Network Shareasale

Follow the tutorials below to learn how to sign up for Shareasale!

Go To Shareasale.com and click on the Affiliate Sign Up link at the top of the page.

Go through the 5 step process of filling out the application.

Part 1 is creating a username and password.

The next step is to input your website information.

Make sure to provide a description of your website and include who your target audience is and why you think your website would be a good affiliate for their network.

Now add your email. I would use an email address that was associated with your blog (contactus@youblogname.com) to get approved faster.

You create these email addresses through your web host.

Step 4 is to add your contact information.

Be sure to double-check that you have entered it in correctly as this is the information they use to send you your affiliate payments or commissions.

The last step is to tell how you want to receive your payments.

Then just click the Complete Sign Up button and check your email for any updates they might send.

How To Make Money From Affiliate Products

Now the way that you can make money as a blogging beginner with affiliate marketing is by creating blog posts that promote or mention certain products.

For instance, in this poster, I promoted HostGator.

I casually mentioned it in this post and left an affiliate link.

If anyone clicks on it and signs up for an account I will get a commission.

This is a very simple way of getting started with affiliate marketing.

3) Create Your Own Digital Products

The third easiest way to earn money as a beginning blogger is to create simple digital products.

Some simple digital products or downloads ideas that you could create would be:

Planners

Workbooks

E-books

Greeting cards

Devotionals

And more!

What Programs Can You Use To Create Digital Products

You could create them using:

Canva

PicMonkey

Adobe Illustrator

Adobe InDesign

Adobe Photoshop

Microsoft Word

Microsoft PowerPoint

Microsoft Excel

Google Docs

There are tons of programs that you can use to create them.

Where do you sell digital products though?

Well I’m glad you asked me!

There are many different ways that you could sell digital products.

You could sell digital products on your own website.

There are plugins like Woocommerce which is completely free to use in WordPress.

But I will warn you Woocommerce has a steep learning curve.

Trust me I know I tried to use it and it wasn’t fun just was not fun to use.

I would not recommend it did but it is a free option that you could use on your blog to create a shop to sell your digital downloads.

You can also use Shopify on your blog or website. It is not free but from what I hear it is so much easier to use than Woocommerce (notice I didn’t even link to Woocommerce lol).

Then there are places like Payhip.com which I have used to sell an e-book.

There is Sendowl which you can use to sell your digital downloads. This is a very popular option but it is not free to use however Payhip is which is why I use it.

I’m sure there are many other options but those are just a few that you can start researching if you decide to sell digital downloads.

Other Options To Sell Your Digital Downloads

Another option of course is to use a marketplace like Etsy, Creative Market and others.

I also have an Etsy store so I am familiar with this platform as well and it’s a great way to get started selling digital downloads.

But you may eventually want to start selling your downloads on your own website because you’ll have more control over the direction of your shop.

Conclusion To How To Make Money As A Christian Beginner Blogger

I want to stress to you that even though these are perhaps the 3 easiest ways to earn money as a beginner blogger (Christian or nonChristian), please understand that I’m not saying that it is easy.

These methods are easier than other methods but none of the methods are just flat out easy. But it is of course possible.

With a lot of hard work, you can start earning money as a Christian blogger so please don’t get discouraged!
